L’chaim (2017), 8 ft by 4ft installation, watercolor and ink
I created L’chaim (to life) after losing three family members to cancer and Parkinson’s disease in 2017. The pieces represent snapshots of memories coming together, creating a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Inspired by the living wall on the side of Pigment in North Park, the series speaks to the fact that when you lose someone, your relationship with them doesn’t really end, it simply enters a new season. L’chaim is a living work of art, continually shifting and growing as pieces are added and then find their way into someone’s home.
